Howdy, I’m Amelie
I’m a designer, and multi-media enthusiast with an old soul. I love hands-on projects, food adventures, and every single jewel tone I have ever met. I hold a Bachelor’s of Science in Visualization with a specialization in Interactive Media* from Texas A&M University and currently work remotely as a product designer. I also freelance as a graphic designer for friends, family, and local non-profits.
I have a passion for educational interactive media experiences and am a firm believer in cohesive & accessible visual language for any scale of project. In a team, I like to work with other forward-thinkers and can step up to a project management position as needed. As a solo designer, I’m always open to new opportunities that ask me to flex different design muscles. No ask is too small; feel free to reach out with any questions!
*So what in the world is a “BS in Visualization with a specialization in Interactive Media”?
Basically, it’s the most artsy thing you can do at an agricultural and mechanical school. Texas A&M University started the Visualization program as a graduate degree and has since developed an undergraduate program with three specializations: animation, game design, and interactive media (formerly graphic design). While I know my fair share about the other specializations, I consider myself most well-versed and comfortable with the following “Viz Kid” core curriculum and “Interactive Media” specific courses:
Interactive Media Studios (x3, with real client experience)
Adobe Suite program-specific courses
“The Classics” (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
XD, AfterEffects, & Audition specific courses, too
Graphic Design (at least 4 specific classes)
Coding
Linux, Python, C++, HTML, CSS
and to round out the B.S. – Engineering Calculus (although you should ask an engineer and never me to check your calculations!)
2D Design (Flatworks)
3D Design (Sculpture)
Traditional Drawing & Life Drawing studios
Art History (Prehistoric through Contemporary)
Color Theory (individual directed study with Laurie Lisonbee)
Visual Perception and Psychology in Design
Writing for Design
Glass Sculpture, Printmaking, and Cultural & Architectural Appreciation (Italy Study Abroad)
